HUPAC: More rails, less road!

HUPAC: More rails, less road!

O.me.p.s seize the challenges of intermodal and multimodal transport with the first HUPAC vehicle

Fast as a train (it needs to be said), the O.ME.P.S challenge on intermodal and multimodal transport continues with the creation of the first HUPAC approved silotrailer for moving by rail.

Cisterna CR47

By embracing the European and global green deal, the company looks to the future of the transport of bulk goods by rail that offers incredible opportunities, optimizing costs and increasingly reducing waste to a minimum. We can say that road trips have a very high economic and environmental impact, especially if we consider some sections made partially or totally unloaded. Add also the scarce availability of drivers with adequate skills and the traffic that is created on the main roads, which are sometimes the only routes for transport.

The future of transport will therefore be on rails. By 2030, the European Union will displace 30% of freight traffic over more than 350 kilometers of rail. It goes without saying that, from this point of view, the solution of tipping tanks that can be loaded onto trains is the perfect solution for large traders of bulk food products. Sugar, cereals, plastic, etc.

O.ME.P.S. model CR47 responds precisely to this principle of inter and multimodal transport, being designed and approved for being placed on board trains according to current regulations and standards.

The semi-trailer with a volume of 47 cubic meters, specifically designed and adequately reinforced, is equipped with coupling points — always approved — compatible with the huge cranes of the HUPAC logistics-railway hubs.

The advantages of this exclusive O.ME.P.S. production are the following:

  • reduction of short transit times over long distances thanks to the freight corridors of the HUPAC network;
  • reduction of the environmental impact thanks to low levels of polluting emissions
  • more precise and efficient organization of shipping times which become predictable thanks to the scheduled timetable of the freight trains;
  • loading/unloading at home: the tanker continues its journey by road coupled to the road tractor towards the destination European plant, after having covered the longest journey by rail without a tractor and driver on board;
  • reduction of transport costs (fuel, tolls, personnel costs).

If the vast range of road trains (from Scandinavian to Australian ones) had largely consolidated the international leadership of O.ME.P.S. for the excellent quality and design of the silotrailers, now with the homologation of the CR47 HUPAC the Italian company is the undisputed leader of the market with the cry of New Challenges, New Solutions.

Once again it is appropriate to say that sustainability, safety and innovation have come a long way…pardon…railway!
